Data Protection Commission exists to regulate the processing and protection of the personal data of living individuals in Ghana.

FUNCTIONS OF THE COMMISSION

To achieve the object, the Commission shall
  • Implement and monitor compliance with the provision of the Act
  • Make the administrative arrangements it considers appropriate for the discharge of its duties
  • Investigate any complaints under this Act and determine them in the manner the Commission considers fair.
  • Keep and maintain the data protection register.
  • Carry out audits to assess compliance with data protection laws and standards.
  • Provide guidance, disseminate information and collaborate with relevant entities to enhance understanding and awareness of data protection principles.
  • Prescribe and enforce appropriate remedies to address violations and mitigate the impact on an individual’s privacy rights.
